Trojan Horse (virus)
Q: What is a Trojan horse?
A: Trojan horse is a typical virus that breaks the security of programs. Trojan horse might erase the data your disk and a stranger might be able to control your disk. It also ruins the file allocation table on the hard disk. The name is from the ‘Greek mythology’ (not sure if the name is right) when The Greek soldiers were attacking Troy with the Torjan Horse, faking to be a present but turning out to be enemies later.
Q: How do we get infected?
A: We often get infected by downloading music files on any anonymous sites. In windows, programs containing Trojan horse have file extension like “exe”, “vbs”, “com”, “bat”, etc. Trojan horses can be spread by ANYTHING including Instant Messaging, Game sites, emails and more.
Q: How can we get rid of them?
There are 4 typical ways how you can get rid of Trojan horses, but they’re not perfect.
1. Clean Re-installation
2. Anti-Virus Software
3. Anti-Trojan Programs: “These programs are the most effective against trojan horse attacks, because they specialize in trojans instead of general viruses.” ( quote from http://www.irchelp.org/ ) ‘The Cleaner’ is a very popular and effective site as Anti-Trojan Programs.
4. IRC Help Channels
