phishing (virus)
What’s phishing?
The term phishing is from the word ‘fishing’ because fishers in the internet throws the fishing rode to the other end to hook information just like what the fishers in real life do, throwing the fishing rode to hook up fish. Phishing has started around the late 1980s and it is very hard to avoid. The main purpose of phishing is to collect personal information from others computer system hoping to hook a useful information that will help the ‘phisher’ in many ways. Phishers might look for usernames, passwords o websites, credcit card information, banking details and many other personal information that would cause you great trouble if any other people knows. As i mentioned already, it is pretty difficult to avoid phishing but if you give a bit of attention of what you do on internet, you might be able to avoid, prevent from being ‘phished’
How do you prevent having your information “hooked”?
- Make sure you communicate your personal information only through secure websites that have icons or have “https” in the address bar.\
- If you receive an email that you don’t know where it’s from, don’t click on any links and never answer any questions that asks for your personal information. Also, if you recieve an email that questions your financial information such as banking details, do not respond.
- Have a software that will protect your computer.
